A senior lecturer at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe- Oghara and a representative of Ethiope West Network of United Nations Women Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Network, Mrs. Odije Koyinasa has made a call to end violence against women and girls and embrace gender equaliness.
Koyinasa made the call during the celebration of the International Day for the elimination of violence against women and girls at Prof. Chike Edozie Secretariat, Asaba the State Capital.
Odije urged especially women and girls to be fully empowered financially, psychologically, and emotionally and not to be idle adding that being a woman is not an advantage.
“We preach women empowerment, but you have to do something, be resourceful so as to contribute to national development. You are not disadvantage because you are a woman, you have a lot to contribute to the national development”, she advised them.
She also charged the youth to shun drug abuse and anything that can lead to violence and be positively empowered stating that they are ambassador of the country, the state, and the local government.
