LABOUR Party councillorship candidate for Utagba Ogbe Ward 1 Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Barr. Handson Olise has cautioned against all forms of electoral fraud in tomorrow’s council elections.
Olise who spoke to our correspondent in Kwale, warned that the elections would no longer be business as usual. He explained that though, his aspiration and involvement in partisan politics was not borne out of desperation, but to contribute towards political emancipation of his constituents.
He said that he would not succumb to any pressure to compromise the mandate of his followers, party manifesto, and personal credibility for undemocratic norms that will negate the tenants of true democracy.
He requested his co-contestants, their party leaders and other followers to play by the rules of the game in line with the nation’s Constitution and Electoral Act.
While advising Labour Party members in the area to shun all forms of violence, fraud and manipulation during the elections, he vowed to contest legally any attempt by opponent political parties to manipulate the outcome of the elections.
He promised to ensure all-inclusive, adequate and meaningful representation of his constituents if voted to represent them. He expressed appreciation and paid glowing tributes to Labour Party leaders and members in the area for choosing him to fly the party flag.
He further assured that he would not disappoint them or betray the thrust and confidence reposed in him.
Olise appealed to the electoral umpire, Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, its officials and security operatives to provide level-playing ground for all candidates to avoid post elections litigation, just as he promised to accept the outcome of the elections if it is credibly and transparently conducted.
