THE Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State Hon. Monday Odigwe, has urged traditional rulers in the Council Area to join forces with his administration to fight the menace of killer herdsmen, kidnappers and other forms of criminalities in the Local Government.
He gave the urge when he played host to traditional rulers in the area led by its Chairman and Obi of Owa kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 (JP).
Hon Odigwe said that the criminal activities of some herdsmen in relationships with crimes and kidnapping in the area has become worrisome and a threat to security of lives, noting that urgent steps must be taken to address the issue of insecurity challenges in the area.
The Council boss said that, the role of Royal fathers relating to this issue cannot be over emphasized, as they are the traditional heads of their various kingdoms in the local government area. He affirmed that the Monarchs are saddled with the responsibility of instituting the peace and wellbeing of their subjects in their respective domains.
Odigwe used the medium to further called for a robust synergy between the Council leadership and the traditional institutions in the area, so that they could consolidate on the gains of the M.O.R.E agenda mantra of His Excellency Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State.
