LG Chairman Moves To Improve Health Centers In Aniocha North

BY CHIJIOKE OYE

The Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Bazim Chinye, has reiterated his commitment to improving the health of the people following his inspection of primary healthcare centres in the area.

During the inspection, the Vice Chairman who represented the local government chairman, Nneka Dibia, inspected Idumuje-Unor, Aniofu, Idumuje-Ugboko and Onicha-Ugbo Health Centres, respectively.

Bazim inspected the functionality and challenges of the various centres, which would enable his administration to address the health challenges and improve health services across the local government.

The team was also received at the various centres by the PHC Heads and Staff who conducted them through the facilities, even as they promised to report back to the chairman for immediate attention.

Addressing the staff at each primary health centre, Bazim encouraged them to help drive his administration’s agenda through quality healthcare delivery. He stressed that the people at the grassroots, especially pregnant and nursing mothers, would have access to the facilities without struggle.

In her words, “If you provide quality services to the people through the health facilities you manage, the Government would be proud of you that the health care delivery in your care is being managed effectively and efficiently.”

“There is no doubt that there are challenges facing your centres but by the special grace of God, our administration, through our healthcare delivery programmes, would make the facilities work optimally’’ he said.

Our correspondent gathered that some of the challenges facing the health centres include leaking roofs, inadequate power supply, manpower shortage, insecurity, and staff accommodation, among others.
