LG Polls: Aniocha North Residents Urge Peaceful Election

Ahead of the Delta State local government election, residents of Aniocha North Local Government Area have appealed to political parties and the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to ensure a peaceful and violent-free election.

Speaking to The Pointer, John Akaeze of Obior Community expressed concerns about previous elections that were marred by violence and irregularities. While emphasizing the importance of voting for a person who can deliver the local government from its poor status, he urged politicians to refrain from using youths as thugs and to accept election results in good faith.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Josephine Ezenwa of Anioma Community echoed Akaeze’s sentiments, stressing that vote buying has not benefited the people. She appealed to the majority party to allow voters to cast their ballots without gratification.

John Akajiofor of Ubulu-Ubu Community highlighted the need for good road networks and expressed support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, and his GAINS agenda.

Other residents, who preferred anonymity, expressed optimism but also concerns about potential violence. They urged electorates to conduct themselves peacefully during the election and collation of results.
