Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in the forthcoming Local government elections in Delta State have been advised to exercise maturity and decorum and avoid acts capable of causing violence during the period.
The Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Suleiman Jimoh, advised his office in Asaba while speaking with journalists.
He said that his reason for briefing journalists was to caution political aspirants to talk to all their supporters to maintain peace during and after the elections and not to allow hoodlums to intimidate their political opponents.
Corps Commander Jimoh said officers and men of the NSCDC have been properly briefed on the duties of the election and posted to various parts of the state, stressing that anybody found to foment trouble during the period would face the wrath of the law and summarily dealt with.
