…Demands Return Of Fuel Subsidy

A Civil Society Organization, the Civil Rights Council (CRC), have urged political leaders to heed the concerns of Nigerians expressed in the nationwide protests and bridge the gulf between the government and the masses.
The activists made the appeal when they demonstrated at the headquarters of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC) in Asaba, the Delta State Capital.
Speaking to our correspondent, the Coordinator of the Organization, Comr Victor Chima highlighted the increasing frustration among Nigerians who feel neglected and unheard by their leaders, as he called for immediate action to address these grievances and foster a more inclusive and responsive governance structure.
He said that the level of poor governance has become unbearable for the people, adding that governance should be about the welfare of the people, even as he lamented that ‘’the situation in Nigeria is not the case’’
Chima maintained that the Federal Government should desist from making policies that contribute to the economic hardship suffered by the citizens.
“We are urging the government at all levels to listen to the voices of the people. The government must acknowledge and addresses the pressing issues facing our nation to restore faith in the democratic process.”
He noted the challenges facing Nigerians to include, inadequate infrastructure, insufficient healthcare services, and the need for improved educational facilities. The organization also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in governance to build trust and ensure that resources are utilized effectively for the benefit of the populace.
The call to action comes amidst the nationwide protest and the growing concerns over socioeconomic disparities and the need for equitable development across the country.
Also, a member of the group, Comr Thomas Ochada, urged the federal government to ‘’ensure our refineries are fixed and subsidy should be returned to enable people to enjoy the benefit of democracy.
He noted that the Civil Rights Council remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of Delta State’s residents, urging leaders to prioritize the needs of their constituents and work together towards a more inclusive and just society.
