Delta State stakeholders on environmental sanitation matters, including Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), in line with the declaration of a state-wide sanitation exercise on Saturday, have decided on a complete lockdown of the capital territory and environs from 7am to 10am for ta seamless exercise.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ejiro Jamani hinted that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of July, will be held across the state on Saturday, July 27, 2024 between the hours of 7am and 10am.
But, according to the Director-General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Chief Patrick Ukah, there will be a total lockdown of vehicular and pedestrian movements in the territory.
He explained that residents were expected to cut the grasses around their premises, clear the drainages in front of their houses and keep their environment clean.
According to him, waste disposal vehicles will move round the affected areas to collect the resultant refuse and dispose them at the dumpsites.
Also, seven mobile courts will sit in different locations to try defaulters, he added, stressing that only those on essential services are exempted from this restriction order.
