Loyalists Of Gov Fubara Secure Court Order Barring PDP Congress In Rivers

THE High Court of Rivers State, Port Harcourt Judicial Division, has issued a restraining order against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) concerning its planned congress in Rivers State.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Sobere Biambo issued an order of interim injunction restraining the defendants from carrying out the PDP congress on July 27th or any other day or location rescheduled for the event.

The court also restrained officials of the PDP, its National Chairman, Financial Secretary, Organizing Secretary, and any of their agents from holding congress until the hearing of the suit before the court.

Among the claimants include: Hon. Prince Solomon Abel Eke, former Obio-Akpor local government area, Hon. David Chinedu Omereri,sodoye Tobin, Goddy Manfred Peplee, Akijah Precious Chigozirim, Hon. Orlosama Peter Amachree, Godfriday Nweke, Alfred Letam, Hon. Wechie Ndubisi Raymond, Mrs. Erebie Michael, and Hon. Ogenma Idalinimulu.

In court documents slighted by our correspondent the Defendants/Respondents are PDP, National Chairman PDP, National Financial Secretary PDP, and National Organising Secretary PDP.

Court has therefore issued a restraining an interim order of injunction to PDP from carrying out or planning its Congress in Rivers State, initially scheduled for July 27, 2024. The order applies to all defendants and their agents, servants, or any other persons acting on their behalf.

The court said the PDP Congress in Rivers State is to be suspended or rescheduled until further court determination. The court specifically bars the party from holding the congress on the scheduled date or any other date pending the resolution of the motion already filed.

The Court order also includes:PDP  taking any decisions or issuing directives related to the congress or actions affecting the tenure of state, local government, and ward executive officers of the PDP in Rivers State.

The matter was adjourned to July 19, 2024, for the determination of the motion on notice already filed.

Our Correspondent reports that loyalists of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory had been accused of hijacking all the positions of Caretaker Committees leadership of the party excluding those loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
