A seemingly ordinary visit between friends turned tragic, when a man in his early 30s, identified as Michael allegedly stabbed his friend, Uchenna to death.
The incident occurred at Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
According to a source close to the situation, Uchenna had visited Michael at his residence, as the two were friends. Shortly after Uchenna’s arrival, Michael discovered his mobile phone was missing. He immediately accused Uchenna of theft, a charge Uchenna denied.
The accusation quickly escalated into a heated argument. Amid the altercation, Michael allegedly grabbed a jackknife and stabbed Uchenna in the stomach.
Uchenna was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Michael was subsequently apprehended by the police and is now in custody.
The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident. “Yes, I can confirm the incident,” she stated. “The suspect has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for detailed investigation.” The police are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
