Mansfield United of Ejophe, Ughelli South Local Government Area, emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the Hon Goru DESOPADEC Cup held today, January 5th, 2025, at the Ogbe-Udu Secondary School playing ground. The exciting football match between Mansfield United and Ovwian United ended in a 1-1 draw after the 90 minutes of play, with Mansfield United clinching the trophy through a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 4-2.
The event was graced by football fans, political leaders, businessmen, and sports enthusiasts who gathered to witness the thrilling encounter. Among the notable attendees were Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, Executive Director of Projects, DESOPADEC; Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor, Honourable Commissioner for Oil and Gas; Hon. Chief Jite Brown, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Government Affairs; Elder Deacon Ono-sorhue, Member of the Delta State Advisory Council; Hon. In his address, the host of the event, Hon. Jonathan O.
