THE Delta State Government has announced a new date for the commencement of the first round of the 2024 Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week under the Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
A statement by the Director of Public Communication and Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Mrs. Theresa Oliko, indicated that the programme, which was earlier scheduled to take place from the 1st of August to the 7th of August, 2024, will now take place from Friday 26th July to Thursday, 1st August, 2024.
The Maternal Newborn Child Health Week targets children between the ages of zero to five years, as well as adolescent girls and pregnant women.
The statement adds that Routine Health Services such as immunization (oral polio vaccine, HPV, e.t.c.), nutritional services with Vitamin A and micronutrient supplementation, family planning and malaria management would be provided.
While regretting the inconveniences caused as a result of the change in dates, the statement enjoined parents and caregivers to go to the nearest health facility or Outreach Centre to benefit from these services.
