The Delta State Government has assured public workers in the state that it is committed to their welfare and the payment of the new minimum wage as soon as all arrangements are concluded by the federal government.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) , Dr Kingsley Emu gave the assurance when the members of the Committee on minimum wage met with the leadership of organised labor in his office.
Emu said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to the speedy implementation of the new minimum wage for workers in the State and urged them to be patient as modalities for the implementation were being worked out. He commended the leadership of the Organised Labour and their members for their continued support to the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and urged them to sustain the partnership because they play a vital role in the MORE Agenda of the administration.
The meeting had in attendance, members of the Minimum Wage Committee, Chief Fidelis Tilije; State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko; Private Secretary to the Governor, Mrs lyna Ocholor; State Accountant-General, Mrs Joy Enwa; functioning Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Mr Gibson Pinnick; functioning Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishment, Mr Kingsley Olumukoro. Others include the Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku; Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Martins Bolum; and the Chairman of Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Comrade Benson Efeotor.
