MORE Agenda: I’ll Carry NYSC Along –Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday, reassured of his commitment to partner with the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in adding value to his M.O.R.E Agenda.

The Governor gave the assuranceduring the official opening ceremony and swearing- in of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1, orientation course for corps members deployed to Delta State at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele- Uku, Aniocha North Local Government, of the State.

Addressing the prospective corps members, Governor Oborevwori, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof.Nyerhovwo Tonukari,congratulated all corp members for the successful conclusion of their various academic courses of study, a pre- requisite for qualification to participate in the service.

According to him: ”My administration consider you as a critical partner in our transformation efforts, which we are driving through our social contract with the people of Delta State as encapsulated in the M.O.R.E Agenda.

“ Fellow compatriot as you commence your orientation programme, I urge you to participate actively inall the activities designed to properly condition you physically and mentally forthe demands of the service year and the larger challenge.  “We will continue to provide the requisite enabling environment for you to effectively discharge your mandate. I wish you a most successful and fulfilling service year, it is my hope that you live up to the  scheme objectives of fostering bridges of love,harmony and productive integration across the country” Oborevwori added.

Earlier, the Chief Judge of Delta State Theresa Diai, represented by Justice C.I Dafe administered the oath of alliance to the corps members.

In his opening remarks, the Delta State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr.Alao Olaosebikan welcomed all the dignitaries and guests present at the opening ceremony and swearing in.  He applauded all the prospective corps members, a total of 1, 911, who went through the registration exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 and ended at midnight of Friday, June 28, 2024. “This marks the beginning of your one-year sojourn in Delta State. This orientation course which started few days ago and will last for three weeks is regimented, aimed at impacting a very reasonable sense of discipline in you through various lectures and activities such as culture, tradition and language of the people of Delta State, ideas and operations of the NYSC.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate the government and good people of Delta state for their unwavering support to the NYSC scheme. However, we appeal to the state government to expedite action in fulfilling the promise of a new 150 KVA diesel generator and the camp perimeter fence which would assist greatly in safeguarding government’s huge investment in the camp”, Olaosebikan requested.
