Motorists Appeal To DTSG On Speedy Rehabilitation Of Ovwian Road

By Sandra Izobo/Joelson Eboh

MOTORISTS plying the Ovwian road in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have made an appeal to the state government to hasten the ongoing work of rehabilitation of the Ovwian road, just in front of the Ovwian Grammar school fence.

This appeal was made at the site of the ongoing project by some motorists, tricycle riders and motorcycle riders.

A tricycle rider, Mr. Gabriel Achunogo said, “The trucks of sand tipped on the affected part last week and up till now, nothing else has been done. With the constant rains this period we are experience difficulty riding through the sand. Our passengers have to come down, so they can support pushing the tricycle through the sand.”

A motorist, Mr. Fidelis Osiah, who ply the Express junction to Jeremi junction routes, spoke to our reporter at the scene. He said that when the sand was tipped, residents thought work would commence immediately, but after some days, the concerns increased as different reasons for the delay were being speculated.

With no one to give a credible answer to their questions, they started using an alternate route through Igbiki, to avoid damages to their cars.

No contractor or personnel was at the scene to respond to these concerns during the period our reporters were at the scene. Equipment, granite and some items were at the scene that shows the presence of work in progress, but there were no personnel to make inquiries from.
