BY EVELYN ZORZOR

It was a moment of great relieve and succour for indigent children in Delta state as they received free medical care, as organized by My City of Grace (MCOG) foundation.

The group embarked on a three day free medical outreach to affect street children across various communities in the state.

The group visited the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Asaba, where they had a community well-being outreach.

There, they visited mothers in the Post Natal, Neo Natal, Labour and Emergency Wards respectively, as well as the children section where they presented them with gifts and relief materials.

They then proceeded to Koka roundabout the next day where they reached out to street children.

The group donated clothes and organized free hair cuts for them and thereafter had a health talk.

The resource person, a resident doctor from the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of FMC, Dr Daniel Adegbulu, spoke on various health issues including how to manage malaria.

He also gave health education, harping on the need for abstinence in order for young people to be able to play commendable roles in the society.

Dr Adegbulu went ahead to speak on the dangers of drug abuse as it affects proper youthful development and taught them proper hand washing techniques.

The last day of the free medical outreach was at Akwukwu-Igbo in Oshimili North Local government, where free medical tests were carried out.

The group, accompanied by the Executive Director, Mr Godwin Ohara, distributed mosquito nets to over 100 families, carried out free deworming for children and distributed free clothes to indigent community members.

According to the Founder, MCOG, Ms Sandra Nwankwo, the foundation seeks to create a compassionate and inclusive society where socially marginalized people are transformed and made significant individuals in the community.

The Director of Operations, Mr Frank Clinton explained that the free medical outreach was born out of the need to control deaths from unknown causes among children.

Children who benefitted from the outreach expressed their gratitude and excitement in no small measures while appreciating the group for reaching out.
