THE National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Ika North East Chapter, has endorsed the wife of the Local Government Chairman, Mrs Doris Odigwe as the patron of the organization.

Speaking during the event, the outgoing president of NCWS Ika North East Chapter, Mrs Beatrice Okonkwo said that the event was organized to honour Mrs Odigwe as the grand patron of the organization.

The meeting, she said, was to also commend Mrs Odigwe for her interest and cause for better living among women in society, particularly at the grassroots level.

Mrs Okonkwo said the visit was to commend the council chairman, his wife and the member representing Ika North East Constituency, Hon Marilyn Okowa, for their commitments and vision in the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

She said the meeting would further serve as an opportunity for the organization to elect the new executive of the association that would pilot the affairs of NCWS in the area.

According to Mrs Okonkwo, the event would be used to inaugurate the 11 newly elected executives of the association led by Mrs Ijegbulem (President).  She further charged the newly elected executive to be committed to their services, urging them to work with diligence for the welfare of the association.

Responding, Mrs Odigwe who could not withhold her joy, thanked the women for the honour. She urged them to continue using their position to champion women’s development in society.
