THE newly posted Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Betty Nekpen Isokpan says that her mission in the State is to drastically reduce crime and acts of criminalities, making the State safe for all.
The Commissioner staated this during a courtesy visit to the leadership and memĀbers of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State CounĀcil at the State SecreĀtariat in Benin City.
She emphasized that the command under her leadership will enĀsure a fair and firm seĀcurity atmosphere that will support business growth and developĀment as well as be a centre of attraction for visitors.
CP Isokpan sued for the cooperation and support of journalists and residents in the State to enable her deĀliver on her charge of making the State safe for all.
She advised landlords in the state to be careĀful not to give out their houses to criminals to rent, especially kidĀnappers, in order not to lose such houses through demolition in line with the Stateās anti-kidnapping law in the State.
She also said that poĀlicing is a collective reĀsponsibility involving everyone in the society, as information from the public to police is very critical in combating crime. āLet everyone be involved. If you decide to hid a criminal, you may be the next victim.
She promised to work with Nigeria Union of Journalists in order to succeed in her assignĀment.
On his part, the chairĀman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, ComĀrade Festus Alenkhe assured the Police ComĀmissioner of the unionās support in the area of coverage of her comĀmandās activities in the state.
He also appealed to the commissioner to ensure journalists are allowed to carry out their jobs without beĀing obstructed by her officers.
