Newly-appointed Delta State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji has pledged to harness her experience to enhance the state’s civil service in alignment with the Governor’s MORE Agenda.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, had on Monday appointed Oseji as the 12th Head of Service, to succeed Mr. Reginald Bayoko, following his eventual retirement from the civil service on March 29, 2025.
Speaking to The Pointer on the sidelines of the autism awareness walk in Asaba, led by the outgoing Head of Service, Oseji expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the privilege to service as HoS.
“I am feel honoured,” Dr. Oseji said, reaffirming her commitment to service delivery.
“I have been following closely, the achievements of Mr. Bayoko. We have served together in the senior management staff committee. We have also been involved in several activities and I represented him several times.
“So, I intend to continue from where he stopped. I hope to build upon that by introducing some innovations based on my experiences. I hope to leverage my experience to boost performance of the civil service’’, she said.
Expressing gratitude to the Governor, Oseji said, ‘’Please, continue listening to the voice of God. We love what you are doing. That we are not borrowing is something other governors would want to know how you achieved it. ‘’You (Governor) is prudent in expenditure. You are promoting transparency and these are key ingredients of development. There are a lot of pressure for you to be distracted but we pray that you remain focused. Delta, under your leadership, stands out among other states and even among other African nations’’, she said.
Oseji is a Consultant Public Health and Community Physician and was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment before being named as HoS. She also held sway at the Ministry of Health as a Permanent Secretary and was a former national president of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN).
Among other certifications, Oseji holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Oseji will be sworn-in on Monday, March 31, 2025.
