The Iyase (Traditional Prime Minister) of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, Aniocha South Local Government Area, Delta State, High Chief Mike Nwaukoni has advocated greater unity, cooperation and mutual trust among the diverse ethnic nationalities in Nigeria in 2025.
In a goodwill message to Nigerians to usher in 2025 , Chief Nwaukoni said God has blessed the country with abundant mineral resources in different geo – political regions, adding that all hands must be on deck for proper harnessing of the nations wealth to the advantage of the greatest number of Nigerians.
The business mogul also enjoined Nigerians to be each others keeper and imbibe the virtue of peaceful co – existence wherever they leave, even as he called for increased dialogue among Nigerians on areas of disagreement for the common good of the country .
Chief Nwaukoni implored the people to see themselves first as Nigerians, adding that the overriding interest of the Nation should always take precedence over ethnic, religious, cultural and other narrow primordial considerations.
On the current living conditions of Nigerians, he urged the Federal and sub- national governments to fashion out measures to mitigate the negative effects of economic policies, saying that the people were passing through difficult times.
Chief Nwaukoni, however, expressed optimism that the situation could get better in the foreseeable future admonishing Nigerians to persevere and believe in their own ability to surmount life challenges and experiences.
He also enjoined the Federal and State authorities to address the hydra-headed security challenges bedeviling the country to enable Nigerians breath fresh air and turn a new chapter of life in the new year.
He emphasized the urgent need for government at all levels to always consider the interest of the masses in policy formulation and execution because as he puts it, policies should be geared towards impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians and not the other way round.
