Nigerians Are Hungry, Says Hassan

A public affairs analyst and traditional medicine practitioner, Chief Yomi Hassan of Akumazi Kingdom has revealed that hunger, poverty and economic hardship caused the planned nationwide protest.

He made the statement recently in his Agbor-Obi residence in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to him, “People are hungry and a hungry man is an angry man. Cost of goods and services are increasingly unaffordable. A tuber of yam is now above N2,000. It is not every household that can afford it”.

He added that the protest was sponsored by hunger, poverty and bad economic policies that have brought untold hardship to the citizens, noting that it was obvious that the protest would be hijacked as the protesters had no identity and no sponsor.

He said that protest was a constitutional right of citizens to express their grievances over unpleasant or poor policies affecting the citizens, but feared that hoodlums might hijack it to wreak havoc on the lives and property of others. Once drunkards, cultists and smokers joined the protest, it would turn into violence”, he assured.

He appealed to the Federal Government to return to the old pump price of petrol and reduce the cost of governance as one of the ways to improve the economy.
