THE Asaba branch chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ikechukwu Collins Osunde, has called for more collaboration with governments at all levels to enhance infrastructural development.
Osunde made the called when the body visited the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili in Asaba.
He pointed out that collaboration with engineers is needed to achieve sustainable development and innovative solutions to challenges faced by society.
Osunde noted that through technical expertise, capacity building, and infrastructural innovation, particularly in designing and implementing projects that would positively impact society are paramount agenda of the profession.
He said that as engineers, they will always seek collaboration with government and other critical stakeholders to develop society.
“The branch has some activities lined up which we want the local government to be part of. These activities include the Health, Safety, and Environment training, the inauguration of the exco, public lectures, seminars, and symposiums. We want our engineers and other staff of the local government to be sponsored for these activities.
“We are looking forward to seeing how this collaboration will take Oshimili South and the Nigeria Society of Engineers to a position whereby engineering development is first in all its activities’’.
Responding, the Chairman of Oshimili South, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, assured the engineers that the local government area under his watch will always partner with engineers in advancing projects’ execution.
He said that the council is ready to sponsor engineers in different ways so as to broaden their knowledge of the profession.
