DELTA Queens and Benue Queens of Makurdi will lock horns in matchday 2 of the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, today, as both teams seek redemption following their disappointing start to the season.
Both teams are desperate to bounce back after opening-day defeats that have left them searching for momentum early in the season.
Delta Queens, narrowly beaten 1-0 by Bayelsa Queens in their opener, will be banking on their home advantage and the attacking prowess of Emueje Ogbiagbevha.
Ogbiagbevha, a former UEFA Women’s Champions League top scorer with Minsk in the 2019/2020 season, is expected to lead the charge as the team seeks its first win of the season.
A dominant performance is crucial for Delta Queens, who are determined to assert themselves as early title contenders in the league.
After coming off a crushing 5-1 defeat to FC Robo Queens, Benue Queens will be eager to show resilience and prove that their opening loss was an anomaly. A strong result in Asaba would boost morale and set the tone for the remainder of their campaign.
This encounter marks the first time the two sides will meet in the top flight, adding excitement to the matchup. Fans can expect a fiercely contested game as both teams look to get their season going.
