Nwoko Urges Youths To Be Advocates Of Anioma State Creation

A cross section of youths of Anioma extraction have thrown their weight behind Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North Senatorial District In the National Assembly in his quest to see the creation of the proposed Anioma State come to fruition.

The youths voiced their support for the moves by Senator Nwoko at a capacity building and empowerment programme he organized for them in Asaba.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Nwoko said the programme was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promise to make life more meaningful to his constituents, especially the youths.

Senator Nwoko said though the programme was part of his constituency project for which no funds had been released, he considered it expedient to personally fund it because he believed that it was one sure way of equipping the youths with the capacity to face present day challenges of life.

He pointed out that the empowerment programme was the third since he assumed office in the Senate, promising to sustain it so that more youths could benefit and be more useful to themselves and the society.

The lawmaker said his quest for the creation of Anioma State, which had received legislative backing through a Bill that had passed the first reading at the Senate, was part of efforts to create opportunities for the people to benefit from the numerous gains the new state would present. Senator Nwoko told the youths that the proposed state would have its own Executive, Legislative and Judicial arms, three Senators, nine House of Reps members, State Legislators, a Chief Judge and several opportunities for appointments to political and public service offices from which youths would benefit.

He reiterated that he did not start the agitation for the creation of Anioma state, but expressed optimism that he would end it, revealing that he belonged to the Senate’s Constitution Review Committee which would consider the desirability or otherwise of creating new states in the country.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Association of Persons Living With Disabilities, Ika South chapter and Special Assistant to the Governor on PWDs Affairs, Comrade Friday Ogor, thanked Senator Nwoko for his kind gesture and selfless service to the people of Delta North, especially the youths, since he assumed office.

Comrade Ogor commended Senator Nwoko for taking up the agitation for the creation of Anioma State from where the early visioners stopped and pledged the support of the youths for him in the struggle.
