The Delta State Ministry of Information has charged corps members posted to the ministry to be diligent in their duties.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu gave the charge over the weekend during an interactive meeting with staff and corps members of the ministry.
According to the Commissioner, the service year is a preparatory time for all corps members, bearing in mind that they would be engaged either in the state or elsewhere.
“At this stage of your life, you are no longer students, rather you are now potential employees. You are expected to be diligent and observe rules of engagement anywhere you work. There is a scheduled time for coming to work and also when to close. This is an avenue for you to learn,” Aniagwu said.
He admonished the corps members to avail themselves of learning as there were a lot of experienced hands available to teach them. “Some people you see today were employed even before you were born, which of course means they are more experienced than you.
“If you can humble yourselves and work hard you will be able to marry the theory you were taught in class with real-life practical,’’ he added.
The corps members appreciated the ministry and the Commissioner for the kind gesture as they promised to contribute their quota to the development of the ministry.
