DELTA State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has approved phase three of the drainage project for Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas.
The Director General Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Areas Development Agency (WUEDA) Godwin Ejiyeren disclosed during his visit to the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom.
He also disclosed that the multi-billion naira project was the continuation of the projects inherited from the Okowa administration, adding that it would last for 24 months, just as he explained that the visit was to introduce the contractor handling the project to the traditional ruler.
He sought the cooperation of the host communities in Uvwie for the execution of the project, even as he said that there would be no compensation for those who built on waterways.
He however promised that youths of the host of communities would be given employment during the execution of the 24-month project. Ejiyeren said that Governor Oborevwori has warned that there is no room for the collection of illegal levies.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Sideso represented by the Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom, Chief Hope Akasa commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the construction of the massive drainage projects in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom also appreciated Governor Oborevwori for not abandoning the projects in the Uvwie Local Government Area started by the previous administration.
The monarch commended Governor Oborevwori for the employment of Uvwie indigenes, just as he assured that Uvwie will always provide an enabling environment for the execution of projects in the area.
He emphasized that contractors handling projects in Uvwie Local Government Area should endeavour to execute quality jobs.
The traditional ruler called on companies doing business in the Uvwie Local Government Area to always exercise their corporate social responsibilities to the Uvwie Kingdom.
