Oborevwori Bags Good Governance Award

DELTA State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has been honoured with the Good Governance Award by the Association of Urhobo Sons and Daughters in the Federal Civil Service.

The award which was presented to Governor Oborevwori by the Grand Patron of the Association and Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, is in recognition of the developmental strides of the governor. Sen Dafinone commended Governor Oborevwori over the ongoing construction of three flyovers at the DSC Roundabout, PTI junction, Effurun Roundabout and Enerhen junction, as well as other ongoing projects across the state.

He commended members of the Association for their desire to promote unity, peace and development in the Urhobo nation through multifaceted strategies and programmes.

Accepting the Award, Governor Oborevwori, represented by his Executive Assistant on Media, Mr Igho Akeregha, said becoming the Governor of Delta State was by the grace of God, having won all 38 lawsuits brought against him.

Governor Oborevwori disclosed that the implementation of his MORE agenda; Meaningful development, Opportunity for all Deltans, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security, is yielding positive results.

He assured that he would always put the people first, use the financial resources of the state to develop the three senatorial districts, and also ensure equity, fairness and open doors for all Deltans.

“I will continue to ensure that Delta State is always in the front row in terms of infrastructure and socio-economic development, youth, girl child and women empowerment, quality healthcare, qualitative education for our students, boost the agricultural sector, and create the enabling environment for public-private partnership, inflow of Foreign Direct Investments, FDI, among others.

Earlier, the National President of the Association, Mrs Voke Okolakpa said much has been done to bring together all Urhobo Sons and Daughters in Federal Civil Service in Nigeria and the Diaspora, noting that the synergy is becoming stronger by the day.

She assured Governor Oborevwori of the group’s unrelenting support through prayers and mass mobilization of the people, disclosing that members of the association would soon transfer individual Personal Voters Cards to their respective voting units across Delta State, to enable them to vote for good governance in subsequent general and local government councils elections.

The high point of the event was the Investiture of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the Distinguished Grand Patron of the Association of Urhobo Sons and Daughters in Federal Civil Service of the Federation and Diaspora.
