THE Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has charged counselling associations on the establishment of clinics.
Governor Oborevwori who gave the charge yesterday, during his key note address at the opening ceremony of the 48th International Conference of Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASON) held at Jubilee Event Centre Enerhen Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State,
Governor Oborevwori who was represented by the member Delta State House of Assembly Isoko South Constituency Hon. Ferguson Onwo, explained that the charge was facilitated by the importance of counselling in human endeavours. Onwo in his personal capacity, promised to assist the association at all time.
Another law maker, Hon. Benson Obireh who is representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta State House of Assembly, also emphasized the importance of counselling in human development as he asserted that good counselling can turn the fortunes of Nigeria around positively. He added that someone who has gone astray can be put on the right track with good counselling.
While appreciating the National President of CASON and host of the event Professor Malami Tambuwal, The Delta State Chairman of CASON, Dr (Mrs) Edna Abbide stated among other things that the event was holding in Delta State after twenty -five years. Abbide who is a lecturer at the College of Education Warri, thanked all those who were present at the event
Professor Malami Umar Tambawal who is also the Vice Chancellor of Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto said “the conference is not just an opportunity to address professional matters; it is a grand celebration of our collective commitment to improving the wellbeing of individuals in our nation and World.”
The Vice Chairman of CASON Delta State Chapter, Comrade (Mrs) Rose Obi who in a media interaction with newsmen , thanked God for the huge success of the event just as she appreciated members and guests who came from far and near.
The three day conference saw the attendance of the Usavwre (traditional key) of Etche Erovie (traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom, Chief Rex Eju who led two other distinguished chiefs of Uvwie, to represent the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe 1, at the colourful event.
