Oborevwori Commissions LIFE-ND Projects In Delta

…Says ‘They’re In Line With M.O.R.E Agenda’

DELTA State Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has commissioned people-oriented projects, built by the Delta State Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) Project.

Represented at the occasion by the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barr. Val Arenyika, the projects are located at Ekraka – Kokori, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Emuobodeti in Ndokwa West Local Government Area; Ndemili Community in Ndokwa West Local Government and Ekuma Community in Ika South Local Government Area.

At Ekraka-Kokori, the LIFE-ND Project built 8,000 liter’s Solar Borehole, 20 Open Market Shops, 10 lock-up Shops and VIP Toilets for both males and females; while at Emu-Obodeti, it built 10 lock-up Stores, two open Markets, Solar-powered Borehole scheme and VIP Toilets.

The LIFE-ND Project also extended it’s project to Ndemili Community, where it built an automated Cassava processing mill, and to Ekuma Community in Ika South Local Government, where it built a five Paddock Pen Poultry facility.

Commissioning the projects, Gov Oborevwori commended the vision of LIFE-ND Project in the State in floating the projects in the rural communities, adding that they werein line with his administration’s vision of empowering the rural populace, providing employment and ad- dressing the food security challenges of Deltans.

‘’ I’m happy that the benefiting communities have taken possession of the projects, as my administration is committed to agriculture, with the aim of lifting Deltans’ from poverty.

“The clean water will make life more meaningful to the people as it would guarantee good health, while the stores and oil palm facilities would go a long way to boost their economic development, particularly at the grassroots”, he said.

“I, therefore, urge the benefitting Communities to own, protect and sustain the facilities in their domain”, Gov Oborevwori added. In his address, the National Project Coordinator of the LIFE-ND Project, Engr. Sam Abiodun, represented by it’s Financial Controller, Mr. Ehima Matthew said, the LIFE-ND projects would be a catalyst for sustainable development in the benefiting Communities.

“ The LIFE-ND Project has made water available in the communities in the face of energy challenges, and with the water treatment plant, public health will be improved, while the lock-up stores would encourage local businesses and promote economic growth”, he added.

Also in his remarks, the Delta State Project Coordinator of LIFE-ND Project, Mr. Collins Ashoro disclosed that, till date the project has benefited 4,373 individuals and implemented over 40 infrastructural projects across Delta State.

“ The construction of these projects stemmed from the communities Acton plan, conducted in the past as they were asked to priorities their desired infrastructure. As a result, these projects were established, taking into account the availability of land for their implementation. We believe that this projects will significantly enhance the economic and social livelihood of the communities as this initiative aligns with His Excellency Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda; both committed to improving the quality of life of families through agriculture and economic empowerment,” Mr. Ashoro added. Also, the President General and Okakuro of Agbon kingdom, Olorogun Joseph Aghwute, while appreciating the Market Stores, built by the LIFE-ND Project at Kokori said, The market attracts traders from Bayelsa, Edo, Rivers and other states and Communities because of the abundant vegetables cultivated by the indigenes, especially Okro. “This is the home of Okro”, he said.

He, therefore, appealed to the State, Federal Government and the LIFE-ND Project to make fertilizers available to the indigenes, assuring that his people will protect and make judicious use of the facilities.
