Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on companies, private Investors as well as corporate Organisations doing business in Delta State to engage local manpower.

Governor Oborevwori, who made the call, yesterday, during the opening of Globus Bank, Effurun Branch, expressed confidence that Delta State has the manpower, both skilled and unskilled, that are required by Globus Bank and other corporate organisations.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, said; “I encourage you and other investors who are coming into our state to source your manpower locally; I can confidently tell you that our people are well educated and are doing very well in different fields of life. So, for you and any other investor coming into our state, the issue of manpower, security, availability of raw materials and quick returns on investments are not challenges as we are in a blessed state with accommodating people”.

Governor Oborevwori, who noted that the state in recent times have been witnessing an influx of core private sector operators coming to do business; said it was clear evidence of the efficacy of the ease of doing business in the state and the quick, handsome returns on investments.

He added that it also shows that the MORE Agenda of his administration was of course, to the satisfaction of the people. According to him; “We are comprehensively addressing all the components of the MORE Agenda because they are inter-woven; evidently, in all parts of the state, we can see meaningful development taking place as we are not only constructing roads and bridges.”

“We are also developing our people through different training programmes and equipping them to be employers of labour and I am confident that the banking sector is getting good patronage from our people; in that regard, we have a flourishing economy because a lot of small and medium- scale entrepreneurs are in our state.”

“We are aware that Globus Bank opened its first branch in Delta State a few months ago and today, you are opening another branch. This is good news and evidence of your faith in what we have as a state, a clement operational environment”.

“Delta is a multi-city State; unlike some states that have just one major city, Delta has a lot of economically viable cities, hence, we expect branches of your bank in such towns as Kwale where there is a booming oil and gas business, Ughelli, Agbor, Sapele and other major towns”. Gov. Oborevwori stated.

Governor Oborevwori stated further: “While we are carrying our realistic reforms in several sectors, we are also providing equal opportunities for our people, investors and all individuals and corporate organisations who desire to do business in our state; the state is safe for business and the opening of your branch in Warri is a clear evidence that our agenda is working”.

The governor, while noting that credible opportunities exist for more companies to come into Warri, its environs and the entire Delta State, said “there are several areas that they can invest in; we have sea ports, we play host to two functional airports and our state can be accessed by road too, as well as by train, not forgetting the fact that share boundary with the biggest market in West Africa, the Onitsha Main Market.

“So, every good businessman or investor will want to do business in Delta, a state that has the largest deposit of natural gas in this part of the world and is blessed with oil and a fertile soil”.

The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Chief Anthony Ofoni represented by the Vice-Chairman, Amb. Andrew Agagbo assured Globus Bank of a conducive environment for business, noting that Uvwie local government area was safe and the people were ready to cooperate with Globus Bank for its operations to be peaceful.

Earlier, in an address, the Executive Director, Globus Bank, Mr. Sunday Ilegar, commended the Delta State government for creating a conducive and enabling environment in the state for business to thrive.

He noted that Globus Bank is a commercial bank with national authorization adding that the bank currently operates 35 physical and strategic locations in Nigeria and aims to cover every major city in the country by 2025.
