BUT for the establishment of The Pointer Newspapers 30 years ago by the Delta State Government, information in the State, the government and her people would have been hijacked by other media, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, has said.
Making his position on this known as The Pointer Newspaper marks its 30th anniversary today, Obi Efeizomor, who is a journalist, and author of no less than 60 years said it is a thing of joy and honour that The Pointer is celebrating 30 years of its existence, and has steadily and committedly remained the sole and undisputably the credible authority on information about Delta State, the government and her people.
“Therefore, if you want credible information about Delta State, the government and her people, The Pointer Newspaper is the choice window to make; it is the mirror of the state, the people and its government “, Obi Efeizomor added.
While saying that in the past 30 years of its existence, The Pointer has done well, the monarch said, but for The Pointer, other media houses would have had the opportunity to paint the picture of happenings and reports/events in the state to the disadvantage of the state.
Therefore, he said, 30 years today, and still waxing strong, The Pointer, through its editorial contents has promoted the interest of Delta State in the area of education, culture, politics, religion and business.
“ The Pointer has also, over the years, helped to promote intellectual/academic interests, and my opinion is that, any amount of money the state government spends in growing the newspaper would be a profitable one, and an investment in the right direction. “By its editorial policy and content, I make bold to say that, The Pointer has Proven to be truly the Voice of Delta, and it carries the banner of the State, and because a large population of Deltans read it, it is a window for defending the State and its people against negative information and dangerous propaganda.
While posting that,30 years on the newsstand, The Pointer has, through it’s editorial policy and contents helped to promote and bridge inter and intra – community/ethnic relationships and associations, Obi Efeizomor advised that the more attention the State government gives to it the better for the state and her citizens.
