The Best Governor of the Year 2024 Award as presented to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday by the ThisDay and Arise TV has been described as a a recognition of the exceptional leadership of the governor.
In a statement in Asaba, a former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya stated that the award is well-deserved and commendable, adding that it is a reward for the efforts of the governor in rendering expected services and delivering dividends of democracy to Deltans.
The former speaker, who was delighted over the development, contended that the achievements of Rt. Hon. Oborevwori has stunned skeptics, and he is ready to do more to impact lives through his MORE Agenda.
According to him, since assuming office Governor Oborevwori has made impacts in both infrastructural and human capital development and empowerment of men and women, stressing that widows in Delta State have stories to tell on the impact of the governor’s administration in their lives.
He particularly named road construction, building health centers, bridges, flyovers, scholarships, and skills acquisition programmes, as areas the governor has excelled.
Rt. Hon. Onwusanya, who represented Oshimili South Constituency, explained that as an accountant, he was impressed by the governor’s management of financial and other resources belonging to the state, contending that only very few leaders would be disposed to give priority to the welfare of the people above self.
While saying that the award was generally a confirmation of his contributions to the progress of the state and enhanced welfare of the people, he assured that together with his supporters, they will continue to support the vision of the governor, just as he commended This Day/Arise TV for identifying Governor Oborevwori and presenting him with the award.
