Odigie Inspects ICT/CBT Centre In Onicha-Olona

. Says 95 Percent Complete

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Daniel Odigie, during the week led an inspection team to assess the progress of the ICT/CBT Centre in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The visit was a crucial step in evaluating the project’s readiness, which is now over 95 per cent complete. Upon arrival, the commissioner and his team were welcomed by the contractor overseeing the project, Mr. Charles Omordia of Ve-Man Global Enterprises.

Hon. Odigie noted that over 95 per cent of the work has been completed in accordance with the Bill of Quantities (BoQs) for Phases I and II, as he highlights the key milestones of the project, which include the completion of flooring, internal and external painting, and the installation of 300 consoles with accompanying chairs for the computer systems. Odigie noted that Phases I and II of the project have successfully delivered 300 fully operational computer systems, all customized with the Delta State logo as the start-up screen, while the 200 additional computer systems slated for Phase II, have been supplied and installed.

The inspection also revealed that landscaping work was ongoing to prevent water retention, with proper trunking and sealing measures in place to avoid potential hazards.

Commending the contractor for their work well done, Hon. Odigie expressed confidence that the Centre will be ready before the next examination cycle. He reiterated that the facility will serve not only as a centre for examinations but also as a hub for comprehensive training in Information and Communication Technology, while urging the contractor to ensure all safety measures are fully adhered to.

Odigie praised the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for making the project a reality, emphasizing its importance in providing local students with access to modern examination facilities and ICT training.

In his remarks, the Contractor, Ve-Man Global Enterprises, Mr. Charles Omordia appreciated the commissioner and his team for their visit and expressed gratitude to the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the project.  He assured the Ministry that the project would be fully completed soon.
