THE Olomoro Development Union (ODU), has lauded the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Hon Warri Ovoke and councillors for their victory and swearing in by the Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
The message ODU was contained in a statement signed by the President General of Olomoro Development Union (ODU), Comrade EwheEjoor Lucky, made available to newsmen at Oleh, Headquarters of The Council. Comrade Ejoor, said their victory was a welcomed development to the people of the area.
He said that the entire Olomoro Kingdom was convinced of Hon Warri Ovoke’s victory when he emerged chairmanship candidate just as he expressed gratitude to the leadership and critical stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Isoko South Local Government Area for the choice of their illustrious son.
The ODU chairman noted that Hon Warri track record as a former councilor coupled with his experience was enough training for him to understand the political terrain. The community leader averred that it has implicit confidence in the ability of Hon Warri and the councilors like; Hon OgheneroUmeh, Hon Harrison Oheri and others to deliver quality dividends of democracy to the people of Isoko South Local Government Area.
According to the statement: we are aware of the enormous challenges that have characterized local government administration particularly the issue of paucity of funds which understandably impacted negatively on grassroots development, but with the local autonomy things will be okay.
The community leader averred that it has implicit confidence in the ability of Hon Warri and councilors to deliver quality dividends of democracy to the people and urged them to give priority attention to the welfare of the people at the grassroots.
He reminded the chairman and the councilors of the recent judgment of the Supreme Court that granted financial autonomy to the local council in Nigeria, urging them to take advantage of it to develop the area.
According to him “I use this opportunity to urge you to uphold the tenets of good governance and imbibe the spirit of oneness and togetherness in order to move the council forward” the ODU chairman said.
