…Enrols 400 indigents Into Health Insurance Scheme
In a very unique and significant way of tackling health challenges in our society, a passionate and Health Insurance Ambassador (HIA) and Executive Director of Olotu & Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation (OERAF), Dr Otemu Olotu Akpodiete has organized a memorial lecture on essence and benefits of health insurance in Nigeria.
The lecture was in honour of his late grand father, late Chief Dr Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete.
Speaking during the event at both Okparabe and Otor-Udu, respectively, yesterday, he noted that health insurance is very important to every family in the society.
Akpodiete explained that health insurance was necessary to overcome an emergency, whereby victims might spend so much that could have been handled through insurance, adding that an insurance card makes it easier for resolving health concerns.
He commended the Delta State Government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for encouraging health insurance initiative and making it affordable, stressing that with M7,000 prospective beneficiaries can get enrolled in Delta, unlike the federal government that is almost N40,000 per person.
The Director-General (DG) of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, represented by Mr. Emmanuel Akpofure, thanked the sponsor, Dr Akpodiete for being the first person across Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency to register indigents for the scheme. He called on other wealthy individuals to emulate him.
Dr Akpodiete also received commendation from several beneficiaries of the scheme, who said that to enroll over 400 persons was not answering easy investment, especially as he is not the richest in the Constituency.
They also lauded his passion for humanity and prayed God to grant him his heart desires.
Other highlights of the event was presentation of Health Insurance Ambassador (HIA) Award to the sponsor.
