IN a bid to address the persistent issue of farm invasion by grazing cows and herdsmen, the Ogbe Ogume Community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area has held an emergency meeting.
The meeting which took place at the Palace of the Onotu-Uku of the Ogume Clan recalled a similar incident three years ago, which led to a formal complaint to government agencies.
During the meeting, Community Development Committee Chairman (CDC), Chief Agadi David, briefed Mr. Mathew Ossai, representing Delta North in the State Livestock Management Committee, on the community’s concerns.
Agadi highlighted the numerous reports from farmers about the invasion and praised Ossai’s past efforts in resolving similar crises while seeking his continued intervention to prevent further conflicts.
In response, the CDC Chairman commended the community’s peaceful approach despite the provocation and suggested an expanded meeting with neighboring communities hosting herders.
He recommended erecting signposts at every boundary to prevent future incursions, which the community approved.
