Ogorugba Resolves NURTW Leadership Tussle

BY DINMA BIGWA

PEACE has been restored to the Isoko North Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) after the Local Government Chairman, Godwin Ogorugba intervened in the leadership dispute.

In a meeting held in the council’s executive chamber, Ogorugba addressed the factional leaders, Charles Ogba and Joshua Ogu, whose conflict had persisted despite previous administrative efforts.

The meeting was attended by key figures including the Vice Chairman Mrs Evelyn Aluta, Leader of the House, Pascal Emeluaha; and the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) Mr Augustine Onokpasa.

Others are Queen Ofejiro Ogbogbo, the President General of Ozoro Community, and security personnel from the Police, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

Ogorugba, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to the welfare of Isoko North residents, assured that his stance was neutral and aimed solely at fostering unity and progress.

He urged all parties to put aside their differences, asserting that meaningful development is impossible in a climate of conflict and division. He highlighted the importance of Christian principles of love and brotherhood in resolving disputes, warning that internal strife could lead to property destruction and even loss of lives.

In a decisive move to restore order, Ogorugba ordered the Area Commander to seal the garage for three months to facilitate the construction of a modern park.

He warned that any breach of this directive would result in arrest.

The Isoko North Local Government Chairman further urged those involved in the leadership tussle to cases from the courts.

In response, Mr Famous Aki, representing the road transport workers, expressed gratitude to the chairman for his timely intervention and assured a commitment to peace and cooperation.
