The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj-Gen Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd) has donated a Toyota Hilux and five walkie-talkies to the newly-inaugurated Orerokpe Vigilante Group.
The Okpe Monarch, who is also the Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, made the donation when the leadership of the Orerokpe community, led by Mr Francis Ejijona and the Duke of Orerokpe, Chief Godwin Ejinyere, came to present members of the new Vigilante group to the Orodje.
The monarch, who instructed that the new Vigilante list be handed over to him so that he can present it to the Orerokpe Division of the Nigeria Police Force for ratification, said the donation was to enhance the operation of the local security outfit.
The monarch used the occasion to call on prominent indigenes of the area and the Okpe Council Chairman to donate and contribute their quota towards the financial empowerment of the security outfit. Speaking further, the Orodje urged residents of the community to cooperate with the members of the new Vigilante, especially in the area of payment of levies to enhance the group’s operations. He warned that defaulters would be dealt with accordingly.
