AS part of the activities to mark the third Coronation Anniversary of the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame, Atuwatse III, CFR, the Queen Consort, Olori Atuwatse III has organised a free and well attended medical outreach in Warri.
The programme tagged “Wuwu Ore”, (Mother’s Love), a three-day event which was an initiative of the Royal Iwere Foundation, commenced on Thursday August 15th at the Cottage Hospital, Upper Erejuwa Road Warri and
In her speech, the Queen Consort of Warri Kingdom, Olori, Atuwatse III, appreciated partners and volunteers who took part in the program.
According to her, this year’s edition was inspired by the need for women to thoroughly look after themselves as they cater for their families, especially in the light of the current economic realities in the country.
She noted that women often overlook their welfare, whereas the burden of a healthy and thriving society rests on their shoulders, while saying, if mothers break down, the family and the society suffers, hence, the need for regular medical check up
The focus of this year’s care was Surgical, dental, eye, paediatrics and laboratory checks. Patients from various ethnic, religious, social and gender divides across the state were well attended to
The leader of the team while appraising the programme said, Dr. Utake Ovwe, while appreciating the Queen Consort, said, “This is the biggest edition we have had since the inception of this program. We usually conduct it for one day but this year we have enlarged our scope by going three straight days and what a turn out we have had”
“We had Partners like the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Safari Pharmacy, Colgate, Women Medical Association of Nigeria (WMAN), Hypo, Nutrify, and several others who contributed to the success of this outreach.”
