OML 30 Landlords Demand 60 Years Lease Payment From Oil Coy

The landlords of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 30, operated by Heritage Energy Operational Services Ltd have demanded the immediate payment of over 60 years of lease owed by the company without further delay.

Rising from a meeting attended by over 100 community representatives in Ughelli the OML 30 Oil Families/Landlords, in a resolution signed by its National Chairman, Alfred Serumeh and National Secretary, Anthony Odhe, resolved that:

“The OML 30 Operator, Heritage Energy Operational Services Ltd must implement a new rent payment per hectare to reflect the current prices of crude oil, as directed by the then Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Vincent Oyibode.

“That the old lease rent of N200,000 per hectare was no longer sustainable given current realities hence the demand for N1,000,000 per hectare.

“To pay the over 60 years leases owed the Landlords of OML 30 without further delay.

“The oil landlords appealed to the Federal and state government and other stakeholders to prevail on Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited to pay the lease and annual rentals to avoid untold consequences which may mar production in OML 30.”
