ONLG Inaugurates Councillors, To Empower1000 Youths

BY CHIKA KWAMBA

The Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Innocent Esewezie has said he would focus on youth empowerment initiatives among other landmark projects within his first year in office.

Esewezie disclosed this during the inauguration of councillors and principal officers of the Local Government’s 7th Legislative Arm held at Akwukwu-Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chairman reassured the people of his campaign promises to deliver two landmark projects within his first 100 days in office.

He said he would embark on the completion of the abandoned hall within three months, stressing that every community in the local government area would experience another round of people-oriented projects before the expiration of his tenure.

‘’In upholding the interest and welfare of the people of Oshimili North, not less than 1000 youths across the local government; 100 youths per ward, will benefit from the empowerment, training and soft loan grants to be unveiled in a few weeks’’, he said.

He admonished the newly-elected lawmakers in the local government area to brace up and eschew the selfishness syndrome, which, he said, had been the albatross around the neck of many public office holders across the country.

Esewezie solicited cooperation from the councillors to do greater exploits so that their names would be entrenched among those that positively impacted on their constituencies.
