Onyeme, Ossai Receive APC Decampees, As Tour Of Wards In Ndokwa West Continues

BY SAM DUVWODE

The “Thank-You” and empowerment tour of wards  by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ndokwa West Local Government Area Chapter, yesterday received a boost as over 50 persons decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, in Abbi Ward 9.

The team which consists of political appointees and elected officers from Ndokwa West Local Government Area, led by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, also visited Ward 8, Okwele-Abbi and Ward 10, Emu-Unor.

The decampees who threw away the broom, the symbol of the APC, were received by Ward 9 chairman, Mr. Samuel Okolo and handed over to the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and the Delta North PDP Chairman, Engr. Dan Ossai.

Sir Onyeme, in his remarks, lauded the decampees for the bold step, adding that coming to the PDP was a right step in the right direction.

Sir Onyeme said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is the only political party that can deliver the country from the present economic and political quagmire, and urged the decampees to remain steadfast and committed to the party.   The deputy governor noted that the tour was informed by a very strong passion to ensure that the dividends of democracy are extended to all, saying that the PDP is waxing stronger in the state.

Sir Onyeme told the people that the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration has graciously approved the construction of Umia road that will commence soon, adding that “when the road is completed, economic activities in Umia in Abbi and environs will improve greatly.”

Sir Onyeme commended the people of Abbi Ward 9, Okwele-Abbi Ward 8, as well as Emu-Unor Ward 10 for their support and urged them to continue to support the Oborevwori-led administration.

While presenting aid to party members in various wards, the deputy governor said the “Thank-you” visit would be a continuous exercise.  The Delta North PDP Chairman, Engr. Dan Ossai assured the decampees of all-inclusiveness, adding that “the PDP Umbrella is large enough to accommodate everyone.” He urged them to consider themselves bonafide members of the PDP family.

Also, Mr. Okolo, the Abbi Ward 9 chairman who described himself as a “political crowd puller,” noted that the departure of the decampees from the APC will further throw the opposition into oblivion.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Eucharia Ojie said they were attracted by the impressive performance of the present administration, which has stamped out any trace of the opposition in the area and the state in general. She added that the APC administration brought hardship and frustration and that the only option left for was to decamp to the PDP where there is hope.
