THE Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili has charged Environmental Marshals in the local government to ensure that the council area is always clean.
Ezenyili, who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Chief Henry Enebeli, gave the charge while inaugurating the Environmental Marshals at the council Secretariat in Asaba.
He urged them to hit the ground running because the communities in Oshimili South were dirty.
He warned them to do away with vendetta against their perceived enemies while carrying out their duties. The Chairman admonished members to keep their compounds and environment clean first before going to the next neighborhood as the Supervisory Councillors and Councillors will monitored their activities closely.
“The Environmental Marshals are going to work closely with Delta State Waste Management Board and Registered PSP members operating in Oshimili South for effective evacuation of refuse and help the PSPs to register residents which will be mandatory, he said.
The Supervisory Councilor to the Chairman on Environment and Youth Mobilization, Comrade Sylvester AdimDikedi said that sustainable cleanliness is a collective responsibility of all and task the Marshals to take their job seriously.
Adim while speaking on diligence to work, said non commitment to work will not be tolerated.
On his part, the Supervisory Councilor on Special Duty to the Chairman of Oshimili South, Mr.AgunwaChibuzor, said that the Environmental Marshals have been reformed to achieve the desired goal of having a clean local government area.
“The level at which residents dump refuse indiscriminately on the roads, streets and gutters is alarming, hence the inauguration to curtail the excesses and maintain sanity across the communities in the area”.
