Oyibode Inaugurates, Tasks Councilors On Implementation Of MORE Agenda

Newly sworn-in Councilors in Delta State has been urged to reside in there ward and community so as to give effective representation and ensure the MORE Agenda of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oboreveori is realize at the grassroots.

The Chairman to Udu Local Government, Hon (Chief) Oyibode Vincent made the appealed while swearing -in the 20 elected Councilors of the local government under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) at Otor-Udu.

Hon. Oyibode disclosed that his administration will cut across political party line and appealed for constructive criticism and useful ideals from the public to develop the area as desire.  He urged community leaders to cooperate with the councillors in the area of ideas and leadership and not over demanding.

Earlier in his handing over notes, Chief Omodio Enajite Mudiaga, the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) to Udu local government said he had paid staff salaries till date, observed monthly environmental sanitation, payment of monthly imprest to deserving staff, payment of staff entitlement such medical bills, marriage and burial ceremonies and set up of three committees namely, anti-open grazing, national youth service and assets and liabilities verification.

He assured the Hon. Oyibode that the staffs were peace-loving and will give him maximum support to achieve him vision and mission.

In his speech, Hon. Oyibode revealed that he will embarked on road maintenance, build staff quarters, improve working environment by renovating offices and providing needed tools for efficiency. He promised to be accessible and run an open door policy.

The local government boss sought the collaborative effort of the staff to achieve his goal of transforming the area to an enviable height. He said he will not tolerate lateness to work, and absenteeism from any staff.

Hon. Oyibode used the occasion to ban youth activities in collecting illegal levies and harassing innocent persons thereby painting Udu in bad light.

In another development, Hon. Oyibode also declared open the Legislative Arm of the council with a call on Councillors to make laws that will impact positively on the live and wellbeing of those at the grassroots. He tasked them to always avail themselves to the people they were representing.

Those elected to pilot the affairs of the House are Hon. Henry Apunu as Leader, Hon. David Henry Eterhi as Deputy Leader, Hon. Sele Victor as Majority Leader,   Hon. Ukonhon Potential Ogheneochuko  as Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Akpotayobore Kingsley as Chief Whip and Hon. Veronica Atietie as Deputy Chief Whip.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Apunu thanked the Chairman, Hon. Oyibode Vincent,  PDP leaders and members and fellow lawmakers for founding him worthy to serve and promised not to let down the confidence reposed on him.
