PAP: Amnesty Boss, Otuaro Gets Vote Of Confidence From Stakeholders

STAKEHOLDERS in the Niger Delta and coordinators of the first phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), have passed a vote of confidence on the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Niger Delta (Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP), Chief (Dr.) Dennis Burutu Otuaro over his ongoing moves to rejig the progamme.

The motion for the vote of confidence was formally moved by Prince Emeka Igwe, Imo State Coordinator and seconded by Pastor Reuben Chief Pastor Ruben Wilson, Bayelsa State phase one coordinator, during a critical stakeholders meeting with beneficiaries in Warri, Delta State. The critical stakeholders meeting was themed “Fostering, Consolidating and Collaborating for the Peace, Security, Stability and Development of the Niger Delta”.

Addressing the gathering, the Presidential Amnesty Programme Coordinator, Dennis Otuaro, enumerated the benefits of the PAP to the people of the Niger Delta region and the country at large noting that, “The programme has brought relative and sustainable peace for oil and gas activities to thrive, in the overall wellbeing of the national economy”.

While speaking on some grievances expressed by beneficiaries, Otuaro expressed firm commitment to promoting the peaceful well-being of the PAP programme. The Presidential Amnesty Programme which was instituted by late ex-President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2009, has played a major role in bringing peace, security and stability to the Niger Delta region.

“At this time we need to unite and support the programme to enable it to achieve much. “The PAP has carried out various training and reintegration initiatives. And we are looking critically at sustainable human capital development through formal and informal education, there is a need for all stakeholders to collaborate and ensure peace, Security, Stability, and development of the Niger Delta”.
