PDP Empowers Supporters In Ethiope East

IN continuation of empowerment of constituents across the 11 wards in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) splashed N22m on supporters to complement Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.

The gesture was championed by elected representatives and political appointees of the party under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo.

Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Akpowowo said had also empowered over 250,000 youths and women entrepreneurs across the three senatorial districts, adding that elected representatives and political appointees under the PDP in Ethiope East decided to key into the empowerment programme by contributing N22m, which was shared to 220 beneficiaries.

The Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government, Augustine Ogedegbe said the empowerment was meant to appreciate constituents and party faithful for their loyalty, noting that Governor Oborevwori is committed to the well-being of every Deltan.

Ogedegbe urged well-to-do members of the party to use a fraction of their resources to alleviate poverty, adding that more empowerment programmes would be undertaken to boost job and wealth creation in line with the MORE Agenda.

In the same vein, Chief James Omeru announced the sum of N5.5m for 33 women across 11 wards, while Chief George Orogun also disclosed that he was planning a special empowerment.

Chief Omeru, emphasized the need for all party faithful to remain focused, support and pray for the governor because of his genuine efforts and determination to advance Delta State beyond 2027.

Orogun advised the beneficiaries to invest their money wisely, adding that majority of successful businesses started small, just as he commended Governor Oborevwori for the socioeconomic and infrastructure transformation currently taking place in the state.

The State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode assured party faithful that the few members of the party in the area who defected to the opposition party are regretting their actions.

Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof NyerhovwoTonukari commended the visionary leadership and achievements of Governor Oborevwori and urged all party faithful to extend hands of fellowship to the few people who defected, and encourage them to right their wrongs by returning to the party.

South-South Woman Leader of PDP, Chief Mrs.TessyTorru advised beneficiaries to boost their businesses with the N100, 000 given to each of them, adding that prudent management of resources and dedication to duty is a requirement for building a viable business.

Speaking during a radio program after the empowerment, Publicity Secretary of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe said the next batch of beneficiaries in subsequent empowerment programmes would not include those who earlier benefited.
