The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ndokwa East Local Government Area recorded peaceful and successful Congresses across the 10 INEC Wards in the local government area, as monitored by our reporter. The congresses, which were presided by PDP executives and monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were hitch-free with strict adherence to INEC’s stipulated rules and regulations, as contained in the Electoral Act.
The aspirants and delegates complied with the rules and regulations under a democratic atmosphere, as witnessed by men of the Nigerian Police Force, Directorate of State Security (DSS), Vigilante groups and other local observers, leading to the emergence of the Chairmen for the 10 Wards and other 16 executive members in each Ward.
Those elected at the end of the congresses were Chief Alexender Ugwala-Ward 1, Ofuezuem Linus-Ward 2, Cyril Anene-Ward 3, Benard Ibuaka-Ward 4, returned unopposed, James Ugbome-Ward 5, and Kelvin Okoro-Ward 6. Others include Otighi Richard-Ward 7, Otuniuya Ododo-Ward 8, Ibere Francis-Ward 9 and Cletus Ashaka-Ward 10.
Speaking to journalists on the outcome of the congress, the Ndokwa East PDP Chairman, Mr Emeli Henry expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the aspirants and delegates during the exercises, noting that Ndokwa East people were known for self-discipline and peaceful dispositions. He lauded INEC officials for monitoring the process and the security operatives for securing the congress venues in each of the 10 federal wards, thereby creating a safe and peaceful environment for the exercises.
He congratulated the newly-elected ward chairmen and admonished them to operate within the ambits of the party Constitution, democratic norms, Electoral Act and the Nigerian constitution.
While addressing the need to carry everyone along, the PDP local government chairman tasked the new wards executives to intensify actions on the membership drive in the area and capture the entire area for the PDP.
