A speeding petrol tanker lost control and killed a woman and her child in Delta State, while also injuring several others and destroying properties worth millions of Naira.
The tragic incident occurred over the weekend along Ubeji/Egbokodo Road near Ayiri Junction in Warri South Local Government Area, as the woman was returning from school after picking up her child.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker, travelling at high speed, suffered a brake failure and veered off the road, crushing the victims who were waiting at a corner to cross the road.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, saying: “Only two deaths have been recorded; others are receiving treatment.”
