Police, DESTMA Synergize To Ensure Traffic Compliance

BY PAUL EGEDE

the Area Police Commander in Agbor, ACP Adolf Ogwu has assured the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), Chief Peter Idion of his support.

ACP Adolf Ogwu gave the assurance over the weekend when he played host to the DESTMA chief and his officers in his office in Agbor.

ACP Ogwu, while welcoming Idion to his office, congratulated him on his new public engagement. He said the responsibility of DESTMA was very clear as it is charged with adequate control of traffic on major roads in the state.

According to him, “Traffic control is very important in any society. When it’s properly carried out, there will be sanity. While carrying out your duties as DESTMA officers, abide absolutely by the rules, be disciplined and avoid anything that will bring disrepute to the agency.

‘’On my part, I’m solidly behind the DESTMA Chairman, Chief Peter Idion and his Board. The police traffic divisions in my Command will work in synergy with DESTMA to achieve required results’’ he said.

He used the medium to stress the need for the effective use of mobile courts for the immediate trial and prosecution of traffic offenders.

Earlier in his remarks, the DESTMA Chairman, Chief Idion said that the essence of their visit was to solicit the support of the police in the area in the enforcement of traffic rules and also punishment of traffic offenders.

He commended the Police for the untiring efforts of securing lives and properties, even as he promised that DESTMA officers would work in synergy with the Police to ensure complete compliance with traffic rules by motorists and other road users.
