The Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has led the DCP operations, the Squadron Commander 31PMF and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the 25 Local Government Areas to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters in Asaba for inspection ahead of the elections.
The inspection was enforced to adequately screen local government election materials, and ensure the safe escorts of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, to their local government destinations.
Assuring Deltans and the electorate of a peaceful and smooth electoral process, the CP issued firm directives to DPOs to personally lead all materials safely to their various stations, to solidify the command’s control of security and safety in the state.
He further reiterated the restriction of movement between the hours of 8 am to 3 pm today while saying that, NABTEB examination students and people on essential duties would not be affected by the restriction order.
The CP encouraged electorates to be law-abiding and conflict-free during and after the election exercise. This monitoring aims at double-checking security protocols, certifying the CP’s promise of a hitch-free Election Day.
